The Yunus Emre Institute carries out work aimed at raising quality standards in the international teaching of Turkish, training subject specialists, and enhancing the visibility and influence of Turkish amongst the world’s languages. The Institute organises teacher training programmes with the aim of addressing the growing need for qualified human resources in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, strengthening the professional competencies of teachers and Turkologists working in this field, and establishing a sustainable educational infrastructure.
These programmes aim to develop participants’ subject knowledge, teaching methods and techniques, assessment and evaluation approaches, and intercultural communication skills.
In this regard, the Institute maintains extensive partnerships with public and private institutions, universities and academic departments operating in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language abroad. Within the framework of these partnerships, training programmes comprising both theoretical and practical content are designed and implemented, taking into account the specific needs and characteristics of target audiences in different regions.
Train-the-trainer programmes are designed as multi-faceted initiatives covering topics such as contemporary language teaching approaches, the development of teaching materials, technology-enhanced teaching, classroom management and academic ethics. The aim of these programmes is not only to enhance participants’ professional knowledge and skills, but also to equip them with the necessary tools to effectively and accurately convey the Turkish language and culture at an international level.
