Discover the ‘My Choice is Turkish’ Project!
The ‘My Choice is Turkish’ Project, launched in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2009, aims to establish Turkish as a high-quality, accessible language of education and communication that is integrated with cultural values and is studied with enthusiasm by children and young people worldwide. To this end, Turkish is being incorporated into the curricula of state and private schools abroad at the K-12 level (nursery to secondary school) as an optional, compulsory, or compulsory-optional subject with credits.
The ‘My Choice is Turkish’ Project ensures the provision of teaching materials for pupils in schools participating in the programme and furnishes classrooms in schools where such facilities are required. Through competitions, workshops, sporting events and children’s festivals organised as part of the project, pupils’ Turkish language skills are developed whilst intercultural interaction is encouraged. Furthermore, training programmes are organised both domestically and abroad to support the professional development of Turkish language teachers working in schools where the project is implemented.
